The Painted Ceiling

Here is the painted ceiling which will be fitted in the Painted Chamber of The Tenement. It was painted by my sister Valerie (thank you Valerie X) and is based on the real one here: Painted Chamber. It is considered to be a fine example and survivor of its time.

Ceilings of this type are characteristically Scottish and thought to be Scandinavian inspired. There are still quite a few examples in existence and date between the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. They were most likely painted by native craftsmen of an itinerant nature and the colours are astonishingly vivid.

Work is progressing well with this room and I've been playing with LED lights - a new venture for me.

  12. Thank you all for your nice comments. They are very much appreciated and I'll certainly pass them on to Valerie.

The ceiling is by far the main focal point of the room so there wont be much by way of furnishing - added to that, I don't have much floor space anyway!
